Mission and Vision

The mission of FERWACOTHE is to increase green tea production in quantity and quality through improved technologies in farming, transformation and commercialization of the product and the mission of building a professional tea sector that creates the most significant add value to the tea producers.

Our Objectives

Since its creation, FERWACOTHE has set 7 objectives:

1. Consolidate tea growers cooperatives, strengthen the links between them and protect common interests 2.Strengthen the capacity of tea growers by training and monitoring of their projects; 3. Promote the cultivation of tea in Rwanda , supply equipment and agricultural inputs as well as monitoring of the application of fertilizers.

4. To promote the economic and social progress of tea growers by purchasing shares in the factories. 5. Train, educate and supervise administratively, technical and material to tea cooperatives.

6. Commercialize agricultural inputs and participate in the sale of the final product from tea factories ;7. Maintain a good expectation among members and continue to seek donors for cooperatives.

Cooperative unions

FERWACOTHE, the federation of tea cooperatives, has 19 member cooperatives with around 43,000 tea- leaf producers as members. Along with its member cooperatives, it is involved in procurement and supply of fertilizers, while only member cooperatives play a role in facilitating their members’ access to financial services. Pricing is set following a nationwide formula that tea factories and producers have agreed upon.
